A former art teacher, storyteller of fairy tales, songwriter,
actress/producer/set-designer for community theatre productions,
Gail also hosted a summer Cable TV series, Me, My Elf & I as
'The Fairy Tale Lady' before she turned to writing. With her late
husband, Gary Provost, Gail co-authored three award-winning YA novels
about a fictional New England family.
The first, Good If It Goes, received the National Jewish Book Award
for Children's Literature, when it was first published in hardcover
(Bradbury Press, Macmillan) in 1984.
The novel was published next as a mass market softcover by Putnam's
Pacer inprint, and then again in trade paper -- Macmillan's Aladdin
inprint. The novel Popcorn followed in 1985,and David & Max
in 1986. All were awarded Notable Children's Trade Books in the
field of Social Studies.
David and Max was also nominated for nearly a dozen prestigious
awards, including the Newbery Medal.
Since co-founding WRITERS RETREAT WORKSHOP in 1987, Gail's attention
has shifted to book doctoring and her work as Creative Director
for WRITERS RETREAT WORKSHOP.
Prior to founding WRW, Gail produced WRITE IT/SELL IT week-end writing
seminars around the country.
Also, she has produced the VIDEO NOVEL WORKSHOP, AUDIO NOVEL WORKSHOP
and WRITING TO WIN video workshop. |
